CAAC Letter 2008-01

FAR Case 2008-002, Extension of Authority for Use of Simplified Acquisition Procedures for Certain Commercial Items, published as a final rule in FAC 2005-27, on September 17, 2008 at 73 FR 53990, with an effective date of Sept. 17, 2008. This CAAC Letter gave agencies the authority to create a class deviation to extend the Commercial Item Test Program from Jan. 1, 2008 to Jan. 1, 2010, pending the final FAR rule that changed this date in the FAR at 13.500(d). The Commercial Item Test Program was eliminated and this authority in the FAR was made permanent. As a result, 13.500(d) was eliminated from the FAR.
